Show Notes Transcript

We're about to record our "Best of 2023" episode and YOU can help us choose.
This mini-bonus episode of our This Is A Voice podcast contains four polls to help you choose your favourite episodes of 2023.
There are 20 episodes to choose from and we've divided them into four groups of 5.

POLL 1, January-April episodes https://forms.gle/7TsTsVcdVJpj5KZZ9

POLL 2, April-June episodes https://forms.gle/TKmgRchZcynFURqm6

POLL 3, June-October episodes https://forms.gle/A6oxVtdqesK4YdDG8

POLL 4, October-December episodes https://forms.gle/XGY3MMFuS33iDaJb7

Vote for your favourite episode in each group (so choose 4 episodes in total). We'll collect the votes and add one Wildcard episode of our own to make the Top Five of 2023, to be broadcast between Christmas and New Year.
You can vote in each poll by following the links above, or email us at podcast @vocalprocess.co.uk

We want to know which episodes you loved the most (so we can do more of them!).
Cheers
Jeremy and Dr Gillyanne

Jeremy: This is A Voice, a podcast with Dr. Gillyanne Kayes. And Jeremy Fisher.

Hello and welcome to This is a Voice and I'm Jeremy Fisher.

Gillyanne: And I'm Dr Gillyanne Kayes.

Jeremy: And this is a special little edition, tiny one, because

Gillyanne: It's a mini bonus.

Jeremy: It's a mini bonus one. because we are coming up to the end of the year and we are going to create our Best Of episode.

Gillyanne: Yeah, we really want to celebrate with you whatever your favourites were and that means we'd like your input.

How can they let us know what their favourite podcasts were, Jeremy?

Jeremy: Well, first of all, there are 20 episodes that you can choose from and the 20th is about to come out. It's coming out on Tuesday and we've grouped them into groups of five.

Gillyanne: Okay, right. So we're being quite scientific about it. And this is in a poll, isn't it? Yes. So there are four polls each with five choices.

Jeremy: Four polls of five choices each. We want you to do all the polls. Um, and if you go into the description, you will see the links, uh, if you can't find the links, or if you just want to send, drop us an email, podcast at vocalprocess.

co. uk, and if you start from the beginning of 2023, in fact, the first episode was in March, uh, then you just count up five, choose one, count up the next five, choose one, and so on and so

Gillyanne: on. So does that mean we're going to have four that have been voted for? We are going to have four. Or are we going to have an overall?

No, we're going to be so busy with these stats, Jeremy.

Jeremy: We are going to have four episodes that people chose as the best of, and then we are going to choose the wildcard, which is the fifth. So it's going to be the top five podcast episodes of 2023.

Gillyanne: Okay, so let's just have a look at group one.

So classical versus musical theatre, which is the healthiest to sing?

Jeremy: Classical versus musical theatre, advice, techniques, and a rant.

Gillyanne: Ooh, whose rant was that?

Jeremy: Probably mine.

Gillyanne: Showing up in the world, self promotion, or what are we doing right?

Jeremy: Showing up in the world, refining your CV, with me.

Gillyanne: Vocal Surgery and Beyond Part One with Kate Bassett, Injury, Signs, and Rehab.

Jeremy: So that's group one, choose one of those that you, that's your favorite, that's your favorite. If you want to, you can go straight to the poll, and in fact the links will be in the description, or you can just email us on info @vocalprocess.co.uk.

Gillyanne: Okay, what's the next group?

Jeremy: Poll number two. Two, this is the April to June episodes.

Gillyanne: Okay, you start.

Jeremy: Vocal surgery and beyond part two with Kate Bassett. Decision, surgery, and recovery to singing.

Gillyanne: Professional development, comfort zone, CPD, and performance nerves.

Jeremy: The most efficient ways to practice, plus finding your place in the world.

Gillyanne: What happens in our masterclasses? What we teach and why we teach it.

Jeremy: And the episode in June, career mentoring and vocal habilitation, secrets of our one to one private coaching revealed. So those are the five that you can choose from for poll number two.

Gillyanne: Okay, poll number three. Authenticity and singing with Louise Gibbs. What is it and can you teach it?

Jeremy: Is Beyonce teaching you this week?

Positive pedagogy with Louise Gibbs.

Gillyanne: So where were we? Gillyanne and Jeremy talk past successes and future plans.

Jeremy: The rise of ChatGPT with Karen Michaels, how AI is changing the voice industry.

Gillyanne: Your Voice and AI with Karen Michaels, tools for the singing studio.

Jeremy: So choose one of those five for poll number three.

Gillyanne: And here's the last poll, is that right? Poll number four. Poll number four. Okay, so I'll start. What matters to you? Putting what you love into your career.

Jeremy: Exploring values and beliefs in teaching voice with Anne Leatherland.

Gillyanne: Breaking the bias, transformative vocal coaching with Anne Leatherland.

Jeremy: Overcoming vocal shame with Lisa Perks, how teachers can support their singers.

Gillyanne: And the courage to sing with Lisa Perks, the power of vulnerability in voice coaching.

Jeremy: And we're going to send this out just before that last one, the courage to sing with Lisa Perks is the 20th episode in 2023, and it is due to go out on Tuesday the 19th at 8pm UK time, so that's the last one in the list.

Gillyanne: So obviously you've got to listen to that one, otherwise it'll be a biased result. We can't have that, can we?

Jeremy: If you want to go to the polls and fill the polls in themselves, then go into the descriptions and we'll have the links to all four.

So the idea is you vote for your best, your most favourite ones, and we will collect them all together. We will put them in the top five episodes of 2023, and that will be coming out sometime between Christmas and New Year.

Gillyanne: Yeah, just a celebration of all the people we've interviewed this year and all the topics we've discovered and all the interaction from you, our listeners.

Jeremy: And if you've been counting, then the fifth one, the last of the top five, will be our choice. So we'll see you then. Okay. Bye. Bye bye.
